FAQ

How can I contact you?

What inspired you to create this blog?
Well, I actually stumbled into it. I’ve always had trouble with the fashion industry and it’s lack of representation of plus size women. I went to fashion school to become a plus size designer several years back. It’s always been a huge passion of mine. Things didn’t exactly pan out and the dream got pushed to the side for a little while. In the mean time, my closet grew and grew with great finds. The want and need for great plus size clothes has never truly left me, but my fire was re-ignited when I read about the Young, Fat, and Fabulous conference that happened early 2010. I was blown away by what those amazing women had accomplished, what they had to say, and what they were wearing! I was so inspired and it gave me a new hope that I felt I had to share with others. I started the blog off a bit reluctantly, scared of what others would say or think and not thinking it would get very far. I honestly did it for fun and it has ended up being the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I plan on opening my own plus size clothing store in the next few years. It’s what I was meant to do!

Where is your favorite place to shop? Where can I get cute plus size clothes?
I honestly have to say Macy’s! It’s not really known in the plus size community for being plus size friendly, but it really is! There’s an entire plus size section in it that has great brands like INC and recently, American Rag. You have to sift through some pretty unfashionable stuff, but I promise there are diamonds in the rough! I’m also able to find a lot of fabulous dresses, jewelry, shoes, undergarments, and tops from top designers that fit me and my style that aren’t even located in the plus size section. They have so many different styles, cuts, and latest trends. I never leave there empty handed! Close seconds: ASOS, Target, Torrid, Forever 21,Kohl’s, Old Navy, H&M… And I could really go on and on. Haha. I’m also enjoying boutique and thrift shopping. You can honestly find great clothes that fit just about anywhere if you really look. If you want to know more about where I shop, check out my Outfits page. I always comment on where I got all my garments.

What piece of advice would you give to plus size girls also trying to be a fashionista like yourself?
Be bold, be true, be yourself, and never be afraid to try new things! Also, to go for your dreams, and never hold yourself back because of your size. That goes for clothes and just for life in general. Fashion should always be fun.

What size are you?
I’m 5’10” and have no idea how much I weigh. I fluctuate between a size 12-20. It really depends on the cut and the sizing of the clothing. I can wear anything from a medium to an XXL.  I’d say I’m about a traditional 16/18 though. I wear a size 8 shoe and a D cup.

What kind of camera do you use? Who takes your photos?
I’m using a Canon Rebel XS right now. I love it. I’m currently take my own photos, but am definitely open to having someone else take them from time to time.

What is Fat Acceptance? Aren’t you worried about your health?
My health is perfectly fine. I have no problems from my weight. Even if I did, it would be none of your business. Please read This. Then this. Then, most importantly, This.

What kind of food do you eat?
I eat whatever I want, really. I cook a lot. I watch a lot of Barefoot Contessa! Haha. I don’t really have a regular thing I eat all the time, honestly. I enjoy trying new ways to eat and cook staples like pasta, turkey, chicken, potatoes, broccoli, green beans, seafood, breakfast foods and baking… Pretty much anything I’m allowed to eat. I have a few restrictions for health reasons though. I don’t eat dairy, red meat, and I try to not eat super sugary or high fat items. I can’t always resist, but I definitely have to keep it to a minimum or I get really sick. I shop at my local farmer’s market and buy organic as well. I would say my diet is closely related to something that resembles veganism most of the time. I eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’m full. Please see the links above for Health at Every Size. :) I do not diet, and do not talk about dieting on my blog.

How can I advertise with you? Will you review my product?
You can advertise with me if your product is something my readers will love! I will absolutely review your product, again, if it is relevant to my readers and the integrity and themes of my blog. I will review it openly and honestly. If you would like to advertise or have me review your product, please contact me through my email.

Will you follow/ promote my blog?
Honestly, probably not. The only way in which I promote anyone is if it is something I feel my viewers will enjoy. This usually happens naturally. Don’t push it, or get upset if I do not promote or follow you.

Can I interview you?
Absolutely! Please email me with the details. Does not matter how big or small the project; I will most likely do it.

Do you do personal shopping or consulting?
Sure! If you live in the Atlanta area, contact me for details.

How do you stay so confident? How can I feel better about myself?
Everyone has a different personal journey to self love. I honestly just realized that I am who I am, and that wasting my time trying to change that was ridiculous and hurtful to my entire life. I don’t waste my time comparing myself to others, but instead, work on being a good person to others and myself. I take care of my body; I enjoy my body; I enjoy dressing my body. I stopped buying into the idea that I had to be this standard ideal of beauty and realized I am my own beautiful, just as I came. Everyone is. I don’t hate skinny, fat, small, tall, race, sex, gender… anything. Once you stop hating others and hating yourself, you will be amazed at how free you feel. You just have to question why you even hate your body in the first place. Who told you to? Why? You have to change that tape in your head.
My confidence comes from knowing what beauty truly is, not what I’m told it’s supposed to be. Learning about Fat and Body Acceptance really helped me. Seeing such beautiful people of all shapes, walks, and sizes within the community really opened my eyes to the beauty outside of it aswell. I see it in everyone, including myself. I hope I can be a part of that for you. If you have further questions, feel free to contact me, read The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf (a book that changed my life), and check the links above.
